Volunteer Pet Photographer
24 Aug
I love animals…especially cats! That’s why I so enjoy my new role as a volunteer photographer for the Humane Society of Boulder Valley. My daughters and I volunteer as part of their Pets and Pals program and we work as a team to create the images.
The Pets and Pals Program is a great way to volunteer with your children who are at least seven years old. There are a variety of ways to help out including walking dogs and playing with the cats and kittens. Some days we walk and photograph dogs. But most of the time, we can be found photographing cats. ![]()
Humane Societies have found that posting attractive photos of shelter animals brings in more people to adopt these wonderful pets. And the positive interaction with volunteers can make all the difference in whether a cat thrives and survives their shelter experience. Even as a cat lover myself, I was surprised to discover how dependent these beautiful creatures are on human love and attention.
There are several volunteer photographers at the Humane Society of Boulder Valley, but it is still a challenge to provide a “glamour shot” for every animal. If you are a photographer and are interested in volunteering your talents or would like more information about the Pets and Pals program or any volunteer position at HSBV, visit www.boulderhumane.org . Training is required and offered for free for volunteer positions.
I am sure you will find the experience very rewarding!
