On April 21, Pring Photography will participate with an elite group of photographers around the country in a very special portrait promotion. On that day, we will be providing a wonderful opportunity for you to update portraits of yourself and any family member you wish (Babies 3 months and older, children, teens, and adults of all ages). In doing so, you will help support Operation Smile, which provides free surgeries for children around the world who suffer with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities.

Along with other member of Professional Photographers of America (PPA), I am offering the gift of a mini individual portrait session and a  5×7 desk-size portrait (or Facebook image) in exchange for a $24 donation to PPA Charities, which has chosen Operation Smile as its charitable partner.

For every 10 individuals I photograph, another child will receive the gift of surgery! It costs as little as $240 for Operation Smile’s medical volunteers to provide a life-changing surgery that can take as little as 45 minutes. One hundred percent of each donation will go to Operation Smile.

For these mini sessions, I will be offering fun, fresh, expressive, headshots with a simple white background. Sessions are for individual portraits. (In other words, this isn’t the session to update a family portrait. However, you could have each family member photographed in their own mini session and create a fun wall grouping.)

Your mini session will last about 10 minutes. But, don’t worry, I am able to capture quite a few images in that short time so you’ll have plenty of choices. The image you select will be fully retouched and your finished print can be  in color or black and white. For your convenience, your images will be displayed online on a personal web page and you can simply call in your order. Specially priced package will be available for this promotion.

Maternity photography sessions capture such a special time in a family’s life. It’s a time of excitement, expectation, hope and lots of love. It’s my goal to capture all these feelings in a maternity session and also make it fun. Here are a few of my favorite images from a recent maternity session with a wonderful family who was welcoming their second son into the world.

I like capturing a variety of expressions and interactions between the family during these sessions. I think the best way to enjoy the finished images is in a beautiful coffee table style album where I can create layouts and include 20 plus images that tell the story of the loving relationship within the family. It becomes a keepsake the family will enjoy for years to come.

I know I’ve said it before, but I really do enjoy photographing the dancers at Grace Studios School of Dance. Here are a few of my favorite Winter Recital images. I love the positive energy and attitudes that shine through these dancers! 

    

I think if you ask any kid whether he would rather have his photo taken in the studio or the park, chances are he will vote for the park. Obviously, a portrait session in the park gets easier as kids get a little older. When they’re really young, the containment of the studio certainly makes things more productive.

Of course my friend’s boys, featured here, are well beyond the running wild stage. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing them since the youngest was only three months old. It’s so fun to watch them grow over the years.

We did a sibling pose by my favorite little waterfall. It’s pretty and it creates a nice environment in which kids can relax and look natural.

It’s always rewarding when I come away with a sibling pose where everyone has a good expression and appears to be having a good time. These boys are wonderful kids to work with and made my job easy.

As much fun as the group poses are, my favorite time is working one on one. I enjoy getting to know the kids and what interests them. Getting them to talk takes their mind off of the picture taking and allows their personality to shine through.

Look at those beautiful eyes! As a photographer, I’m always looking at the eyes. You’ve probably heard that the eyes are the window to the soul. I completely agree. But, I’m also fascinated with how beautiful lighting can create a kaleidoscope of colors and bring them to life. Mira’s big brown eyes were like mirrors of the world around her.

Her brother Max shares those good looks as well. It was such treat to photograph both of them again this year. My very first session with them was years ago when Max was only three years old and Mira was one. They are very sweet kids and a lot of fun to photograph.

Their mom treated dad to a surprise birthday gift of a beautiful photo book containing all her favorite images from this session.

Dad loved it!

I have always loved the beauty of Red Rocks Park, but since I don’t live nearby it hasn’t been one of my regular locations for portrait sessions. After doing this senior portrait session with Akio, it is now one of my favorite spots. The color, texture and shapes of the red rocks create a beautiful and interesting backdrop for portraits.

It was such a pleasure to work with Akio. Besides being a great looking senior, he is a genuinely nice guy. He had a natural ease with posing which made my job easier and just plain fun.

Cute kids and colorful costumes make dance photography a real joy for me. I have been photographing the dancers at Grace Studios School of Dance in Broomfield, Colorado for the past couple of years. And I can honestly say that I have more fun each time I do it. The kids are great and I love seeing the costumes the teachers come up with for each dance.

I photograph the dancers individually and in a group poses that usually reflects their first or final move in their particular dance. It’s fun to do the traditional poses and also to try something fun and spontaneous.

I also enjoy photographing  the dancers during their live performances to capture their sheer joy as they express themselves through dance.

Every year the Professional Photographers of Colorado hosts a great event called K.I.S.S. which stands for Keep It Simple Seniors. It’s one of my favorite events because it offers the opportunity to learn from fellow photographers and share ideas on how to create exciting and artistic high school senior portraits. This year’s event focused on using different lighting techniques for indoor and outdoor photography. We had fun photographing high school seniors around Golden including at the amazing train museum. Precious baby Peyton was so sweet during her newborn portrait session. She was only twelve days old with a full head of  beautiful black hair. It was a pleasure to work with her mom and dad during the session too. What a treat!    

I recommend scheduling your baby’s newborn portrait session within the first two weeks after birth to capture the sweetest and most cuddly poses.
